Nexus is a partnership between the University of Gloucestershire, Gloucestershire College, the Royal Agricultural College and UWE. It aims to better align higher education programmes with the needs of local employers to improve their access to a skilled workforce. It is also geared towards those who would like to improve their qualifications, but have not been able to access relevant courses or programmes. Nexus works in consultation with employers and HE providers to achieve bespoke programmes or smaller chunks of learning that employers require for current and future development of their workforce.
Funding has been secured from the Higher Education Funding Council for England for three years to develop a suite of new products and approaches all linked to workplace higher skills needs. Nexus is located in a new professional HE centre in Alexandra Warehouse, Gloucester Docks. It offers a professional business environment for training, conferences and higher skills development. The Nexus Team are creating a range of different programmes including accreditation of existing employer training programmes, specialist modules or degrees, bringing new HE learning in to Gloucestershire and re-packaging existing HE programmes already available through our partner institutions, making them more flexible for employers.
